PUMA’s update of the iconic basketball SKY Hi model which comes to us in the form of a new contemporary model, the SKY HI+. As part of “The List” collection, the sneaker is updated with a new high-cut tongue and a thick Velcro strap across the ankle. A total of five different colors are released for this season, each with their own unique material choice such as metallic croc skin, nylon and suede. Available now at select retailers globally.

French fashion house Givenchy have added to their luxury footwear range this latest colorway of the Tom Combo High. The hi-top sneaker sports some impressive materials including a premium leather that has been moderately distressed for added comfort and tonal velvet sections. Clearly comfort is key with the TC, especially given the heavily padded tongue and heel collar which together ensure a luxury feel. The boot is finished with a rubber sole, a textures toe and a logo print heel. The Tom Combo High is now available at ssense, priced at $410 USD.

Vans Vault in association with Filson present the Vans Sk8-Hi x Filson rucksack. Made with Filson’s trademark canvas and bridle leather, this collaboration fuses the California based skate line with the historic outdoors brand that has existed since The Great Klondike Gold Rush. Both brands, although their consumer bases are dissimilar, both exhibit durability in their respective industries. Soto Berlin will debut the Vans Vault x Filson Fall 2010 Collaboration with an assortment of other collaborations.

The Brooklyn Circus introduces its annual varsity jacket for 2010, this time coming in a lightweight cotton version. Two different colorways look to release, including a sailor blue with cream/burgundy detailing and a khaki putty with cream/brown accents. Crafted entirely in the USA, the jacket continues the brand’s staple varsity program with classic detailing such as calf-skin leather highlights, satin lining, and a chenille “B”.

This hardcover publication has 496 pages and will be released in November 2010. The cover illustration is the iconic photograph of Louis Vuitton trunks, suitcases and an umbrella stacked to resemble the Eiffel Tower in the background, shot by Jacques Henri Lartigue in 1979.

I think the book will, in addition to chronicling the history of Louis Vuitton trunks, make us privy to the 100 illustrious trunks that the house has created since its founding. I'm pretty sure many of you have heard by now. But fashion giant Lee (Alexander McQueen) has passed away last week. I am writing this to pay my respects to him. He will be missed. Below is a brief biography of the late designer.

Alexander McQueen dropped out of school at age 16 to pursue a career in fashion design, learning tailoring on Savile Row and pattern making from costumiers Angels and Bermans. He showed his degree collection fresh out of the Central Saint Martins Masters program in 1994, which was bought in its entirety by style icon and fashion editor Isabella Blow. The label is known for its dramatic, gorgeously constructed pieces, combining elements of British tailoring with French couture. Signature looks included billowy dresses cut in hourglass silhouettes, frock coats paired with skinny pants, sharp, angular suiting, and darkly romantic gowns covered in intricate embroidery and lace. Gucci Group acquired 51 percent of the label in 2000. In 2004, McQueen designed his first menswear collection and was named British Menswear Designer of the Year by the British Fashion Council. The brand introduced fragrances in 2003 and 2005 (Kingdom and MyQueen) and in January 2006 launched McQ, a more affordable, denim-based ready-to-wear line including menswear, womenswear, and accessories. McQueen flagships stores are in London, New York, Milan, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas, and franchised stores are in Istanbul and Moscow. Tragically, McQueen was found dead in his London apartment in February 2010. The cause of death was apparently suicide.

For Spring/Summer 2010, Gucci introduces two colorways in its hi top strap sneakers, which feature an obvious play on the trendy designer silhouettes that have become a hot commodity as of late. The kicks take on tonal color choices with premium leather construction and straps that actually click on.

Haiti was hit by a second earthquake this morning (measuring 6.1) as the country reels from the devastating 7.0 earthquake only eight days ago. Last week’s quake killed an estimated 200,000 people, left 250,000 injured and made 1.5 million people homeless. Out of respect for those who have lost loved ones, their shelter and life’s basic necessities UNDRCRWN joins the rest of the world in grieving the tremendous losses to the people of Haiti.
